Siena at its best

First of all, we should visit the city with the stomach full, so here you are our favorite restaurant:

OSTERIA LE LOGGE!

For best Cheese and wine of Siena and best RICCIARELLI: ANTICA PIZZICHERIA DI SIENA – PALAZZO DELLA CHIGIANA

It is in Via di Citta 95. It is more expensive than the others but the quality is at a very high level.  It is the priceless experience.

Ask for the local red wine! I’m a sommelier and i can say that is the best house wine of the city!!! Don’t miss a taste of Pietrafitta from san Gimignano wines.

We recommand  also the buiscuits Ricciarelli (made only with natural ingredients) and cheese to ricciarellli siena by il fontanarotake home!

So after having taste the local food, here you are  some tips  for the city:

–        Going up to the top  the tower in Piazza del Campo  and watch the delightful  panorama of the city (remember to have with you the camera).

Piazza del Campo in Siena is considered one of the most beautiful places of the world. It has a characteristic shell-shape divided in 9 slices, you can admire this particular form from the top of the tower del Mangia. From the 1300 this square it’s the centre of everyday life of Siena and it has the function of market place, of meeting point for all the city dwellers during important political moments or celebrations, for example twice a year in occasion of the well known palio.

Siena Duomo

The Cathedral of Siena contains numerous masterpieces from every epoch. A work that in many respects is exceptional, is the floor, “the most beautiful … largest and most magnificent … that ever was made” in the words of Giorgio Vasari, the fruit of a plan that took on concrete form through the centuries, from the XIV century up to the XVIII century. The preparatory cartoons for the fifty-six panels were done by important artists, all from Siena, except for the Umbrian painter Bernardino di Betto, known as Pinturicchio who in 1505 authored the panel with the Hill of Wisdom.
