Yesterday for dinner we have been at Taverna del Patriarca.
It is a typical osteria located in the antique wine cellars of the Villa il Patriarca and offers the best of local Tuscan tradition.
The spacialities are the hand made pasta and the ‘Chianina’ meat, and in general typical meat and fish dishes. We’ve loved so much the rare Chianina steak
The interior design and the fornuiture are informal, to spend a moment in pleasant company in front of the fireplace.

Katia Maccari is the Executive Chef of I Salotti and Taverna, the two restaurants of Patriarca. She was born in Tuscany and learned the chef’s craft when she was young thanks to her grandmother. Not only fantasy and creativity, but also extraordinary technique for a unique cuisine, awarded 1 Star by Michelin Guide! But the most important is the territory: the pasta of Val d’Orcia, the cheese of Pienza, the ‘cina senese’ and ‘chianina’ meet
Wine cellar - The wine cellar @ Taverna del Patriarca has a wide local, as well as international selection with about 1500 labels, from the most famous wines to very special rarity. Chianti, Brunello, Nobile and much more, that go well with our best dishes! We have also drinked a very good Sud Tirol Pinot Noir as starter.
Taverna is open 7 day a week, for lunch and dinner!

In Italiano: La Taverna del Patriarca è una tipica osteria toscana ricavata nelle antiche cantine dell’hotel con l’intento di valorizzare le rinomate specialità regionali.
La sua particolarità è un braciere a vista dove vengono cotti piatti di carne e di pesce. Ad una cucina semplice e gustosa si unisce un servizio assai cortese, che rende la Taverna un locale perfetto per trascorrere in allegria qualsiasi tipo di evento. La selezione dei vini inoltre è molto ampia e vanta etichette di elevato pregio.
Noi amiamo ordinare antipasto locale e chianina con verdure di stagione!
Ma se siamo proprio affamati anche i pici con il ragù di chianina! Aperta tutto l’anno, a pranzo e a cena.
